Based in California, John Castillo has worked as an independent photographer for over forty years. He began his career as an apprentice to renowned Hollywood glamour photographer Douglas Kirkland. Specializing in the performing arts, John’s portfolio spans motion pictures, theatre, music, and celebrity portraiture. He proudly served as project manager, photo editor, and photographer on Americanos, a multimedia project sponsored by Time Warner and the Smithsonian Center for Latino Initiatives, documenting Latino life in the United States. His photographs were prominently featured in the Americanos photo exhibit, showcased in museums throughout the United States.
In addition to his photographic work, John has been a dedicated mentor for over fifteen years and served on the Board of Directors for the Dream Project, which funds art and education programs for underprivileged youth in his community.
